Jump!

Ooh jeepers, me hip. Oh me crook knees... A close examination of our requisite New Year Jump! photo on Ohope Beach, shows....no one really jumping. There's Kerry, 48, on the left, our childhood friend who's just had a hip replacement "I'll kind of lean forward creating the illusion of jumping" she said. Pietra, 47, my sister was guarding against untoward billowing of her Topshop evening frock, me, 50, with my dicky knee and my other sister Sharon, 48, with sore shoulder.

Our friend Kerry, with my sister Pietra, Me and other sister Sharon

Here's a more jumpy pic from exactly 15 years ago when Sharon was married. Well, something to aim for next year, get our feet off the ground. My Dad says to make New Year's resolutions more attainable so that's one, along with learning to play five songs on the guitar and not drinking during the week. Oh, hang on, make that four songs on the ukulele.

Kerry, Me , Pietra and Sharon

What did you resolve to do this year?

  8. I'm not making any resolutions this year as I always forget them anyway. I think I'd be avoiding jumping too, mainly on account of the old pelvic floor: jumping whilst pulling everything in is jolly difficult. I gave up Star jumps many years ago ;-))

  9. hmm might be easier to keep the resolution about songs on the ukulele then drinking during the week! Happy New Year, and may find the energy to jump :O

  12. Saddest jump shot ever! The 15 year old one, though, is absolute jump-shot perfection. Something to look forward to next year! I hate resolutions. I'm horrible at keeping up with them. Can't wait to see the YouTube videos of you playing the ukulele!!!

  14. Brilliant for you all that you're still as close as you were 15 years ago. And looking unchanged???!
Brilliant for me that I feel so fit just because I can jump!

  15. As one adds another year does the resolutions get fewer and easier?
    I like the photos:everyone happy.
    Happy New Year.

  16. Happy 2013!

My resolution is to take more risks and try new things. Not that 2012 wasn't completely characterized by new and risks--- but it was a great year, so I am sticking with that theme for this one as well!

  17. Love the photos my resolution is to be happy and healthy

  18. Careful with the jumping. I broke my first leg getting carried away at an aerobics class and did it two more times before I learned to be careful. Not broken anything now for twenty years.(everything crossed)
With smiles like that who cares about jumping.
My continued resolution is not to fret about anything I have no power to change and to not waste what time I have left by being frightened.
    All best wishes for 2013:)

  22. Hilarious! We just did a similar photo experiment. 2 families whooping it up on New Year's Eve in 2004 and the photo has adults and kids seated and standing. This past NYE we spent it with the same family and took the same photo with everyone seated and standing in exactly the same position. The adults haven't changed much but the kids were ginormous. It's so fun to recreate something over the years for posterity huh?

  23. I'll be darned, I have resolved for healthier knees this year. Tweaked one a couple weeks ago and the odd pangs at odd moments are reminding me I can't continue on the path toward being a total couch potato.

    Happy new year, Jody!

  24. So nice to see you back in this lovely land of Aoteroa. I hope you manage to keep to your resolutions.

Do you think you could introduce such healthy activities into California?
I'm sure the natives would prefer a nice cold L&P to those nasty alcoholic beverages.

    1. Actually I took loads of pictures of L& P (and drank loads of it). Had two drinks at bookclub on Monday so No - have fallen at the first hurdle.

  25. Glad you make it back to New Zealand/Aoteroa for Christmas. You remind me of the kangaroo who went to the vet, because he wasn't feeling jumpy.

I stuck out my snout, and discovered it is still winter. Back to hibernating.

Blessings and Bear hugs for 2013.

  26. It's the 'just before we jump' jump photo, the 'get ready to jump' jump photo. Who needs to jump when you can pretend the photographer missed the jumping moment?

I don't do resolutions either. I lose interest in the boring ones and forget the nice ones in the maelstrom of everyday life.

  27. In both photos you all looked like you were having such a great time! And pretend jumping is just fine.
I'm planning on saving more or at least trying.
    Love Di ♥

  28. Jody- What great pictures both- full of life!

I resolve not to make a list, as looking over one I made two years ago leaves me feeling a bit lazy. So just a New Year's new positive attitude for me!
