My older brother Tony (he's 52) just send me this photo with a cheery "Off We Go!"
( I've just realised I've never posted a photo of my brother Tony even though he lives just across the bridge in San Francisco. Well that'll learn him not to give me Superman comics for my birthday. Like he did when we were eight years old. As you can see I don't hold grudges.)
I emailed him: "What are you and that guy doing in those tight black pants?"
Tony's answer: "Representing New Zealand in the America's Cup in Lake Placid. Bob Sledding."
In my nearly 51 years knowing him, I had not realised my brother learned to bobsled. (He hadn't.)
Whaa? So there was a spare seat on the bobsled and you just hopped in?
Actually kind of like that - there was a spare seat and a friend of a friend called and Tony was on the next plane to Lake Placid.
I thought Tony was scheduled for a knee operation this week. Obviously he went bobsledding instead. Mad bugger.

LOL some Cool Runnings joke in there but may as well have fun and enjoy yourself, pfft to knee repair.
ReplyDeletePat funnily enough some friends and I went as the Jamaican Bobsled team a couple of years ago - we made the bobsled from cardboard and plywood.

Bugger is the Kiwi favourite word. The classic is a Toyota commercial where even the farm dog says bugger. Suits a lot of occasions.

ReplyDeleteHI Gina - fantastic you're back. Yes I passed up the opportunity (not to represent NZ) in lake Placid when Kevin and I were first "going out" 17 years ago. Lake Placid was a bit of a bizarre place back then, completely empty of tourists, the place that time had forgotten. And bizarrely even though we asked everyone for the ski field noone could quite point us in the direction.
