Turning 51

How about those days when a bottle of Fanta and a slice of banana cake with the neighbours' kids was your birthday party - and you felt absolutely bloody golden? I turned 51 today (impressions from "the other side"?... the sun still shines over here) and Kerry, one of those neighbours' kids, just sent me this photo of my fifth birthday.

Me (middle) and the Buckeler "Butler" kids from through the squeaky gate

I'm pretty sure it's my fifth birthday because the little boy on the left "Carlyboy" is smiling. For a number of years I commandeered him as my boyfriend and no doubt bossed him round mercilessly. His life must have been torture. The day I went to school (which was two months previous to this photo) I realised he was a year younger than me and unceremoniously dropped him.  No wonder he looks so happy...

  3. Happy Birthday - mine was last Friday and I decided to ignore the increased age and focused on the presents and cake instead! Incidentally, you don't look anything close to 51 .. next post should be on your skincare regime! Enjoy your day x

    1. Libby, you''' notice the camera is always a safe distance from me, I totally look 51. yes Carlyboy lives in our home town, has three grown up girls and we still see him around often when we go back as his sister Kerry - third from left - is still one of our best friends. He is doing well and no doubt still congratulates himself on his narrow escape.
