Noo Yoik

This morning I'm flying off to New York with my friends, fashion designer Lesley Evers and her head of sales, Laura. Whoohoo! They will be showing their Spring 2012 frocks at the trade show, Fashion Coterie. I will do a bit of fetching and carrying for them, but mostly, while they work, I'll be mooching around town. Lucky old moi...or rather mwa, mwa darlings.

Lesley photoshoot at our house...in the living room
on the bocce ball court...
These are some pictures of Lesley's new line taken at our house by brilliant fashion photographer and stylist Lara Rossignol of Piewacket. I wasn't home during the shoot, but Lesley tells me that Lara works quickly and decisively without heavy props and lights.

How in the heck did Lara make our scrubby old bocce ball court look so romantic? (I always manage to get Cy's old socks in the frame) And did she capture so much light in the green chair picture? In the photo below, I'm so proud the beautiful model is wearing my nude shoes in the backyard shot, but oops am noticing my green chair in the kitchen pic is a bit grubby. Sorry!

...and in our kitchen (dress available now)
Now the kids are older, getting away by myself is not the military operation it was -  requiring weeks of advance planning and involving all manner of additional personnel and complicated graphs and charts. This time there, er, might be a few holes in the schedule (sorry Kevin, going into a tunnel now...)

You might remember I went to Coterie last year and wrote about Lesley and Laura setting up -  transforming an empty space into this. I also blogged about trends for clothing and shoes.  I visited the High-Line, a garden in the sky on a disused railway, scoffed the legendary bacon sarnie at The Tipsy Pig, walked around MOMA and saw Promises, Promises.

Would love to hear your ideas about what I should do this time -  shows, art exhibitions, restaurants? I have four days.

  3. I've never been to New York. I live vicariously through everyone else!

I love seeing the various shots around your house. I don't even know what would have to happen for someone to want to take a photo in my house. Probably NOT have a 1 and 3 year old running around like mini-tornadoes. :)

  8. Going to New York as a fashionista. Good for you. And leaving the troops at home. They're probably saying, "Boo; hiss."
Hope you have a grand time. You will, of course, share the pictures and experience of your escapade. Won't you!

  10. I am beyond jealous! I haven't been to NYC in much too long (2 years).

I always make time for Jojo's (a jean-george restaurant) and Cipriani's downtown. JoJos for the food and Cipriani's for the food, prosecco and the scene!

    Can't wait to see pics!

  11. Jody- Your house is an AMAZING backdrop! And those clothes are so swoon-worthy.

I would show up at the door and see if you could get into a live taping of The Nate Show while you're in New York on Tue, Wed and Thursdays, he does two tapings at 9:30 and 2:15. On Saturdays I would try and get into Saturday Night Live, but I think that's a hard one!

(Can you tell seeing a live show taped is on my bucket list!)

Okay - better yet BE on The Nate Show. I could see you shooting a little "House Proud" video and Nate would just have to fly you to NYC again!
