Down the Rabbit Hole of an Outfit Post

Everyone loves an outfit post right? Even if you're thinking: "Uh, oh, dodgyrama... who's going to tell her?" I thought I'd take a quick snap of what I was wearing this morning (why I thought anyone would be interested is another story...) There was a million other things I should be doing (like the grocery shopping and trying to drum up some work) but hang on, this will only take a second... I started with my new-ish necklace and old sky-blue jeans and boots.

I added my Rag and Bone pink cardy. Sorry, fuzzy photo alert. This looks like the amount of drugs I had after 26 hours in labour so I could give birth to an 8lb baby (which basically feels like passing a pumpkin through a straw. No, not a pumpkin, a block of flats) Oh yeah, colour blocking baby! Oops, no, just random.

Trying the VB and colour blocking in a fuzzy kind of way
You might wonder why my legs are in this contorted position. I am trying the Victoria Beckham pose - a three-quarters-on-and-one-leg-way-out-in-front of the other which is supposed to give the illusion of a thigh gap. VB obviously has the real thing. Thigh Gap.

What about a "by the Stinson Beach fireside" look... with my motley white sweater that the dog nibbles on and which has loads of biddy bids (technical term for those wool ball things)?

Weird trick of the light but I look up the duff in this one

Yellow top with sky blue. Eeech! (That's a toss 'er off buzzer sound)

Now for the Rip Curl cardy. (I know I'm too old to be wearing surfer brands but I just can't help myself...)

Ok finally! No, it's  nothing special don't post that.

All the clothes on the floor. It's already 1.24pm -  grocery shopping will have to wait for tomorrow.

The bizarre thing I look cat lady scary in real life, no make-up I haven't brushed my hair in a week (I can't find a brush anywhere, despite possessing a whole village of them.) Thank goodness for Instagram which hides what lies beneath...Wish it would gloss over the mess in the closet too.

I left the mess to attend a teacher conference for one of the kids. Easily distracted and then spends a lot of time on the distraction, apparently. Heavens knows where he got that from.

  2. I LOVE the fact that as I made my way down through your pics, the clothes pile on the floor got bigger and there were more and more drawers opened! Pretty much sums up my daily dressing routine .. without the walk-in wardrobe unfortunately. I'm off now to practice my VB pose in the mirror. I think we can take it that I'll probably topple over!

    1. Actually FF my husband's one is twice the size (and twice as light as mine). I chose the smaller in order to keep my clothes shopping at bay. Bwahahaha

  3. Your closet is hilarious! My hubby leaves drawers and cupboards open like that all the time and I nearly kill myself walking into them.
I'm coming over to organize that for you!

  5. I think that VB"s pose and her constant grimace comes from the bunions on her feet. They are horrifying. Google VB's feet and see for yourself.

    1. Linda - it's true she has pretty feet skin - but bunions. Oh poor her - she'll never be a foot model (oh that's right she doesn't need to be, she already owns half the world...)

I have bunions too, but won't be posting photos of those curves anytime soon. No questions asked Linda - ok one question- when did you notice VB's feet?

    2. Christina Hendricks are just as bad and apparently so are Sarah Jessica Parkers. I spend too much time reading the Tom & Lorenzo Blog

    3. Linda T. I have the chicken feet which is why I rarely post my feet in shoes. Popping over to the T and L blog of which you speak. Another time sink is the side postings for the Daily Mail, every step of every B list celeb you'd never want to meet.

(I did not come up with that name, to not take credit where it isn't due!)

  7. Jody, I envy your closet. Looks like nice built-ins. I do love the jeans or leggings. The color is so pretty. I think the last is my fave too. Rip Curl and Hurley actually have some pretty cool things. I love their casual California vibe! Jody you look fabulous in everything. The last part so hit home. My poor younger son is same as me..We both can't finish anything without..going on to another! I'm working hard at not doing this. I think it's symptomatic of this crazy life!!

    1. Kim, it's just an Ikea one, we opted not to go for the $9,000 one! (Funny that!) the best wee things are in Ikea. Kim, I would write more but have been distracted by a bright shiny object out of the corner of my eye!

  8. My Mr is incapable of closing a cupboard door or drawer and it drives me bananas! I love that mirror frame.

  9. It's not my other half, it's me. I leave the wardrobe drawers open and clothes strewn every where. I used to have lovely tidy rooms but then I started blogging and it all went to pot. Would love to have a play in your walk in wardrobe though. It's still bigger than mine!

    1. This is America baby. My closet would be considered modest. Some friends I know would not buy a house if it had a small closet like mine! (Or sans a three car garage!)

  11. You are so funny! I adore your sense of humor and fun. Your closet is pretty fab my friend. I like the idea of a 'faux' gap. Had never thought of that. Wish me luck!

  13. I think you look pretty cool and trendy, your closet looks homely and your emulation of a VB pose hilarious. You need to stick your hips out though more, don't you? and put your hand on your hip, and don't forget not to smile. :)

  14. You look fantastic in all your different combos.... but I definitely understand the try on thirty things and leave a tornado in your wake process! That's me on a good day (you know, days when I don't settle for the baby-spit-up sweatshirt I've already been wearing for a week!).... :)

If you were in Napa with me, what do you think you'd wear to prune? :)

  17. Head hurts - love it! Taht's basically the reaction of most people after a conversation with me!
Pruning uniform: Easy: my brown ski jacket, daggy old brown pants and UGG boots, which is basically my uniform when I'm not spending half a day taking photos of random other stuff in my wardrobe

  19. Ditch the pose - most of us are already jealous enough of how good you look in jeans with out you having that "thigh gap". And Thanks! to Linda T, for the VB feet information - how can she fit in those bunions the shoes she wears?
IKEA stuff is wonderful as long as you don't move it once it's assembled. (No IKEA's in Oklahoma, unfortunately.)

    1. When we first arrived here we furnished our house entirely from Ikea. You've hit the No2 nail on the head, Beryl, Ikea stuff cannot be moved.
Thank goodness I don't have to do the VB pose anymore, it's a bit of a yogic twister that one.

  20. I will be contorting myself all day tomorrow just to get thigh gap, although one leg in one county the other leg in another may be what's required here.....

  21. Really love those boots. But you were missing the VB non-smile with your pose!!

Oh and I had no idea VB, Christina Hendricks and SJP have bunions. I don't feel so bad now!!

  23. Love the Rag and Bone cardi in pink! ..and the boots!! These are great pics Jody and I laughed as the accumulation of clothes started to grow. This is kinda how I roll too .. especially on a work day when I can't get the make up or hair right .. I make myself late.. and then I can't figure out what to wear. It's a girl thing perhaps? When it comes to photos.. I say back WAY up, NO flash photography allowed and turn the damn lights down! (I do have a potty mouth.. anything you hear on my blog is just an act ;)
