Ten year old Zara dress so well worn the belt fell apart with clonky kiwi shoes |
Okay, grab your slushy margaritas, we're taking a tour of some of the summer sartorial goings ons on the internet:
*Kim is thinking about what to take for their trip to Hawaii and says these J.Crew earings remind her of coral and water...
from Northern California Style |
*Heidi's ball frock from Lela Rose. Technically it's winter in Australia, but we don't get too technical on this blog, too jolly rebellious for that..
from Adelaide Villa |
Fellow Kiwi, Marlene, is doing the boots, jacket and cut-offs.
from Chocolate, Cookies and Candies |
Blue Booby eventually said No to this Ann Taylor flirty skirt:

Naomi took her Kelly Picnic handbag to a converted Victorian men's loos in London.
from Coulda Woulda Shoulda |
Flaky Fashionista reckons this might be the Holy Grail of white tops - from Selected Femme

Here's the Isabel Marant dress that Tabitha was auditioning:
From Bourbon and Pearls |
By the way, I took my broken sunglasses into Neiman Marcus to see who they would recommend to fix them. No questions asked, they offered me a new pair or any other pair I wanted. The manager said I should go for a rose colour rather than gold. In-house stylist Tallulah, 13, has given them the thumbs down.
sorry about the armpit in the shot, bit sscary |
What are you adding to the mix this summer?
I've given up. I only wear gray tees or white blouses so that's all I'm buying. Now if only summer weather would come to Alaska. . .
ReplyDeleteWe're having a bit of June gloom ourselves here in the East Bay but we always expect that. OUr house is actually chilly so I end up going outside and sweltering in my cardigan that I've worn inside all day
DeleteI don't know, but I do know I'd like to add that Isabel Marant dress to the mix this summer...and the summer-body to go in it!
ReplyDeleteIsn't that dress amazing? I can see you gathering the grapes in that VG!
DeleteGreat service from NM! Good for them!
ReplyDeleteThe dress looks fabulous with the winter shoes and the new sunglasses!
I have already added a couple of metallic suede slingbacks from JCrew and planning on a couple of pencil skirts.
OOh Rose, that sounds great!
DeleteLove eyelet. On,y thing I am looking for this summer in fact! Gosh u gotta love America. No questions asked? I never ever return stuff here bc I hate the questions and the attitude. Just makes me feel guilty and like I am doing so etching wrong...I say big glasses are good to protect not only eyes but the skin around the eyes as well.
ReplyDeleteAlso saw a great skirt in eyelet but it was gathered at the waist and in my heart of heart I know it won't be flattering on me
DeleteWhat a fab post, loved this tour of what everyone's wearing! Just delicious. Also love lacey eyelet, have skirt bought last year which I have yet to wear, must get act together!! xx
ReplyDeleteEyelet always reminds me of Portofino even though I've never been there and haven't a clue what it's like
DeleteHello Jody,
ReplyDeleteWell, first, we need to consider getting into something resembling a sizzling summer body shape......
And,after that we can consider the winter wardrobe which is so much more forgiving!
Well cheers to sizzzling summer shapes!
DeleteI auditioned 3 frocks but sent them all back. I did keep a green linen maxidress from JCrew but I haven't worn it yet. Not a good sign!
ReplyDeleteLove your Kiwi boots, they look comfortable too.
Shoot, Dani I just realised I was also going to feature that great red top of yours, going to do another post in two weeks so..I'm going back to you blog to look for the green maxidress
DeleteLove the new glasses, brands and stores are great when they do the replacement with no nonsense, aren't they.
ReplyDeleteYou hit a raw nerve with the armpit comment. I am paranoid about mine!!! Can''t understand how people whose jobs allow sleeveless ever choose to show a 'pit'. LOL. x
Yes I didn't even have the receipt and to be honest I could have well snapped them from bad handling. They also took back a pair of white trou without a receipt too.
DeleteYes the pit, not the most pleasant of areas, but at least we both veer from the Julia menagerie shot. Im also seeing loads of celeb shots of that area of fat besides the pit - is there a name for that? There should be.
In the swamp we live in it's shorts or a swimsuit, but we're off to England for a couple of weeks this summer so I'll have to find something "stylish" (lol, the idea of me and stylish) to take for our time in London.
ReplyDeleteI'm no helping with the traveling style at all. My sister reckons I always look as if I going to play golf...I always end up wearing long white shorts and sneakers (for me bunions)
DeleteGot me beat, where the same no matter the season at my street
ReplyDeletewear*
ReplyDeleteI'm a repeat offender too, truth be told. My kids mix up where, wear and we're so glad to see someone is keeping up the standards
DeleteOh I adore the sunglasses and I am on a search for them take your daughter not liking them as a compliment thats what I do when my daughter says Yuch it means they suit my age gro
ReplyDeleteOh thanks Inge, it does induce the doubts when she gives me the quizzical brows thing
DeleteJody thanks for including me with all these way more stylish gals. What a fun post. Love your new rise glasses! I was thinking about a pair myself. Now off to visit all these blogs. Want to see that men's room and dying about Naomi's bag!! xx Kim
ReplyDeleteI know, isn't it amamzing how they've integrated all those men's urinals??
DeleteWell there I am in all my pouffy glory. I love your new shoes and they look great with the dress. I ordered from Massimo Dutti, Zara's big sister, and was 50/50. Just having a tough time with summer clothes.
ReplyDeleteBB, well heck i bought the best navy quilted jacket ever from MD in Berlin, great prices, looked much more spensy that it was. Then it disappeared into thin air a month or two back - maybe Its been waiting for your pouffy skirt and they'll make their escape to a European summer
DeleteI'm flattered to be in this line up. Thanks so much for including me, Jody. You're so slim and toned....you can practically wear anything and look good.
ReplyDeleteTallulah and I disagree this time around--- I love the glasses! I have been doing too much shopping lately--- I blame the heat in Singapore! The best air con is in the malls, so you can't help but want to spend time in them!
ReplyDeleteGrand excuse
DeleteI am just glad to be able to dig out my summer clothes again now that the sun has come out in England for once.....
ReplyDeleteI haven't bought much in the way of new "pieces" but I did get a fuschia silk top for the BritMums conference. I'll be posting a pic hopefully on the blog...
I know! sunny but chilly here, just burnt my lips at lacrosse game with a jersey on
DeleteWhoop, whoop! Very flattered indeed to be included in such an elegant line-up. Thank you. And with sincerest of apologies to your in-house stylist, I really LOVE those sunglasses on you x
ReplyDeleteWhoop, whoop! Very flattered indeed to be included in such an elegant line-up. Thank you. And with sincerest of apologies to your in-house stylist, I really LOVE those sunglasses on you x
ReplyDeleteThank you FF!
DeleteCaftans...........or KAFTANS.........I do not know which is the correct spelling anymore!I have added a few of those!Your STYLIST may not understand OUR AGE THING!!!They look great!Even the armpit looks pretty taunt to me!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteA seventies swishing on the Moroccan rooftops type kaftan?
DeleteI'll bet you've often heard you look like a blond Jackie O....always best to follow Talluleh's guidance.
ReplyDeleteNo one has ever said that! But I will be duly framing this comment - you made my day
DeleteI bought myself a few pairs of Pallazzo pants and I'm loving them! A black and white patterned pair and another with a sort of hazy blue design. They are both too long to wear with flats so I'm forced to go glam and do heals. Best purchase in ages.
ReplyDeleteLove palazzo pants, the name and everything!
DeleteLove your eyelet dress - you're so svelte Jody, and I like the combo with the NZ boot thingies. Thanks for featuring me too! I doubt very much I'll feature in one of your Summer photo line ups again though - it's really Winter here now, and I'm wrapped up in layers of wool and Ugg boots (as in the AUstralian ones, which are not to be worn outside the house as they're too daggy). xx
ReplyDeleteThat's my uniform most days. Love Uggs
DeleteI just dyed three tops that were washing out my face in floaty lacy white (mutton dressed as lamb) or boring beige, to lime green. I was going to chuck them out before common sense kicked in. Very pleased with the result and will def wear them.
ReplyDeleteCorker idea. I set out to dye my grey fozzy bear jacket but it was not an artificial material so backed off on that.
DeleteBears don't worry much about fashion. A fur coat is a fur coat.
ReplyDeleteBlessings and Bear hugs!
The glasses look wonderful, very cool :) You look marvellous too :) xx
ReplyDeleteJust catching up on your blog and like always you crack me up! Always a good read! I have two girls 14 and 11 and they think they are the fashion police and are always giving me their fashion opinions for better or worse.
ReplyDeleteI always ask them, " show me a mom who is hipper than I am, please"…..I would like to know who they are! Hee!Hee! You are so brave to take a selfie of yourself in skinny jeans. I'm afraid if I actually saw a full length shot of myself in a pair I would probably never wear them again! You look fab and keep yourself in great shape….you go girl! Good luck with the book! Do you know bay area author Joyce Maynard? She used to write articles for the Chronicle that I used to enjoy a lot and I believe she now has a book or two out. keep up the good work!
Hi Anon, thanks for commenting. I feel as though Joyce Maynard is very familiar and so just googled her. I've probably read loads of her things.. I was thinking I've read something about her lately and maybe it was something to do with her having a relationship with JD Salinger? Which was old news but maybe something else popped up about it...
DeleteTallulah often cannot articulate what is wrong with an outfit, sometimes she'll just say "too messy for you" or the mutton dressed as lamb, "Looks like something the girls in Harley's class would wear."
