Our House in Sunset

Our house is in Sunset this month. Here's some of the snaps. They called it The Fun House. Very nice of them.













Reactions from the six inmates?
Me: "Never wearing that sweater again. I look as though I've eaten a baby deer."
Kevin: "My bald spot isn't really that big...is it?" (this is the male version of "does my bum look big in this?" The answer is always "no.") 
Harley, 17: " They didn't put in a photo of the basketball hoop."
Jackson, 15: (not looking at the magazine) "cool."
Tallulah, 13: " I wish you would actually do that in real life." (Cut up watermelon) 
Cy, 11: "Main thing is Teddy (the dog) is in four photos."
Teddy, 2. I hated to remind him of the day. He spent most of the photoshoot disgracing himself with his oversize Panda bear which I later stuffed into the  recycling bin.

    It's pee'ing down here in Chicago and we're still in the 50's with a teaser now and then. Expat to expat - how, why, did I end up in Chicago? (Fun city, but the damn weather......)

    Oh yes, your house is super fun!! I'm cracking up! Sorry about the stuffed animal but it sounds like Teddy had a super day. ;) Your house is amazing. I've had a huge crush on it since I spotted the color of your door years ago on the blog. Your spa bath is catching my eye today, along with absolutely everything else. You look like a gorgeous blonde in the fun house. Love!

    I always love looking at your house - these photos are fabulous.
    My hubby has the same anxiety about his bald spot too. I remind him he is tall so most folks can't see it...unless it was in a magazine!!

    I love your house so much Jody! The windows in your kitchen are fabulous, and I love all your quirky pieces of furniture, your colour choices, and that deck area.
    Laughing so much about Teddy though. He must be feeling very sad his panda had to go. He was no doubt showing off to the camera crew!

    Fabulous photos - but I always have serious house envy when I read your blog. I was in your neck of the woods last month (AAD annual meeting in San Francisco) ... bad timing though, as you were skiing your way around Canada at the time. Shame! It would have been fun to meet up!

    Beautiful home! I live across the bay from you in Mill Valley and was happy to see they included your blog.
    I'm trying to increase the cool factor in my home by slowly replacing some of our more traditional pieces (that came with my husband.) Do you mind me asking where you found your rattan furniture in your family room? Cheers!

      Hi Donna, they are made by Kenneth Cobonpue and we got them from a place in the SF Design Centre though not sure if they are still available from there as we got them at least eight years ago, maybe more.http://www.kennethcobonpue.com/

    Your home is beautiful! I saw it this morning is the Sunset magazine while I was waiting for my car to be serviced. I have been baffled for years on how my husband and I's such different design tastes can somehow be fused, and I think you've solved our problem! A few questions when you have a chance: How high are your ceilings? The standard 8' or taller?; Is that a runner in your kitchen? It is so long, was it custom ordered?; Where did you get the kitchen cabinets and island? Thanks. Your home and family are lovely! Thanks for the inspiration!

      Hi Alicia,
      I think the ceilings are just standard 8ft which was all the more reason not to have upper cabinetry.
      That is a runner by Bolon, you specify the length to them. Ours was one of the Botanic rangehttp://www.bolon.com/en/floors/botanic
      The kitchen island was made by Downsview a Canadian company, shipped to us and then installed by our builder, Steve Strand who was amazing. http://www.downsviewkitchens.com/gallery.php?gallery_id=76.
      The face is laminate. They also made the cabinets for all the bathrooms.
