Four Seasons In One Day

Snow, rain, thunder, lightning followed by beating hot sunshine...bloody hell, it's Four Seasons In One Day here in California's Bay Area.  I haven't experienced such crazy, variant weather since I left New Zealand. Maybe everywhere I go, I Take The Weather.  But Crowded House songs aside, what the heck do you put on in the morning?

Me wearing my four "uniforms"

I'm a repeat offender when it comes to clothes and I usually have a "uniform". Lately I've had four uniforms as you never know what "season" it's going to be when you leave the house.

Clockwise from top left:

Winter: Lion King cardy. Bought in Berlin, it actually garners sniggers from schoolgirls when I pass. Him Indoors is not too sure about it and Tallulah, 10 asked: "What nationality is that cardigan?"  Yeah that's right, this cardy is sooo huuuge it has it's own country.
Spring: top, jean jacket - it's stretchy and as soft as Cy's pyjama pants (not sure if that's a good visual) - has to be the best jean jacket in the world. Apparently this year, you're allowed to wear two kinds of denim together - what do you think of that new missive from Fashion Central?
Fall: t-shirt, pants... yes, I know they look like Cy's pyjama pants and they're every bit as comfy...hmm...there's a theme here...
Summer: hat, necklace, t-shirt

Yes, this weekend we arrived back from snowstorms in Tahoe....

Then Spring sunshine..

Talking of Spring, I'm so chuffed to be featured today on The Inglenook Decor. For many years I've been afeared of that Springiest of colours ....pink. Then I realised it was totally popping up in my garden and in my wardrobe. How am I coping? - head on over!

  1. I think you have amazing style! I especially like the outfit with the plaid pants. Our weather is weird here, too. I just layer up. And peel off accordingly. :)

  11. I really like that sweater! I am the worst repeat offender. Yesterday I pulled of my black silk pajama pants to put on my black sweat pants. This has been going on for a week or so :)

  17. It sounds like you live in ireland I start the day in a skirt sun in shining then I put tights on because sun goes in then I put a jumper on because it's chilly and finally a fleece because of the cold I end up looking like a bag lady it is so difficult to look good this time of year.

  23. We Brits love talking about the weather so this is a great blog topic. The day the hosepipe ban came into operation in my neck of the woods, after months of no rain, the heavens opened and haven't stopped. Reminds me of the famous hot summer of 1976. As soon as the government created a Minister for Drought it started to rain so he then became the Minister for Floods.

  24. You make me laugh so hard each and every time I stop by. I lvoe all of your uniforms. Even the cardi large enough to have its own country :)

  25. Just found your blog and loving it! I am having a nice laugh here tonight catching up on your posts. Love the lion sweater too! My kids are 13 and 10 and so many of your topics are really so true!

It is crazy weather here right now. I think I'm on my 3rd outfit today. I do tend to wear the same things and leave the rest of my wardrobe untouched for some reason!

    Have a good weekend!

    Kim:)

  26. You and your "uniforms" are uniformly fascinating. The Lion King is fabulous. Do they make them big enough for a Bear?

Strange weather you've been having. But up here, too. Grey, snow, sunshine and rain here in one day.

  27. Thank you for dropping into my blog - it's appreciated! We're having weird weather in the UK too, not stop rain and a little hail yesterday flooding our little country lanes and warm sunshine today! Your back yard is fabulous by the way x

  31. I find it funny that so many of us have succumbed to the "Texas Tuxedo" of denim on denim trend after it was about as stylish as Billy Ray Cyrus's mullet. But even Billy Ray finally cut that crap off so why not???

  32. Love your summer uniform! I grew up in Concord, seeing all your photos is bringing back such happy memories!
