So why did I fall for these ones? They were incredibly comfortable, loved the pattern and imagined myself in them sipping Campari poolside in Capri (as opposed to driving in circles around Oakland)
BTW, these sandals were $80 in Harvey Nichols in London and $20 at Old Navy in Emeryville- the exact same sandals! |
Sorry, waaay too many photos of these trousers |
So I bought them home for a second opinion from "im indoors" (le husbande). He was doing his usual fingers in ears: "Lalalala Im not listening. I'm not listening." Not directed at me...he records sports games and watches them, but has to block out any mention of the score. But I'm sure he also said: Those trousers are really cool.
If you are afflicted with the PA (pancake arse) as I am (as opposed to the cute bubble bum) they definitely have the wide and long bloppy bum effect so the back has to be covered up. It's also hard to find a top in my wardrobe that goes with them...
You have to turn the other cheek to the wide and long bloppy bum effect... |
Those pants will drive you crazy, said my husband. Lalalala, I said, I'm not listening.
Have you ever fallen for something that is not terribly flattering?
Those are super cute, I would wear those even!! I have a pair of silk trousers, their navy with white hearts all over them. I'll have to take a picture, but they are so relaxing, the only trouble is, if there is even a slight bit of wind in the air, they blow all over and it becomes a bit annoying, haha. And they get caught when I walk, so I have to wear high up shoes with them, so I usually just wear them in the house. I think these look great on you and the pattern is fun :)) Have a great weekend xx
ReplyDeletewell I love them, but you know that should not be taken as a ringing endorsement so much as a call to arms...
ReplyDeleteI have dreaded pancake bottom as well. It is always a challenge. I wore one of my pairs of fancy pants on weds night to my party and NOT ONE PERSON said they liked them. Do you think that is significant???? I hope not!
I say sally forth in your PJS and own them and heed not the words of those lesser mortals who do not fly so close to the sun...
Okay, well, I'm not down with the trend of wearing actual pjs in the daytime, but your pants, while pj-ish look darling on you. You, as always, look darling! My darling daughter just walked by and said, "those are really cool pants!" She has a pretty keen eye. xoxo
ReplyDeleteThank you Amy's daughter, my kids said - those look exactly like pyjama pants
DeleteI think they look fab on you....I wonder would I get away with wearing them over here in rainy Ireland:)
ReplyDelete~Anne
Actually funnily enough I liked them best with my cream cable sweater that sort of flares out so would suit the rain!
DeleteI like the trousers . I do prefer them with the top over them. But I love the colour and the pattern. I like the harem pants look but definitely on others and people half my age
ReplyDeleteAgreed - they need something over them, I actually think a more structured top - like a PJ shirt top would look better than the blue one I have on
DeleteI Love them - you do look very cool in them, but that's because they're not quite the whole PJ look that Sophia et al are sporting. I can definitely see you poolside sipping a Campari in them.
ReplyDeleteAs for the PA problem, these would definitely work for you http://www.lovemybubbles.com/padded-panty-silicone-midrise-shaping-brief.shtml
Look, no need to shy away from this - I've been stuffing my bra with the silicone chicken fillets for years. About time they took care of the PA's amongst us as well. xx
I will look into this Heidi - I have fully embraced pulleys levers cutlets and whatever else in the brassiere dept!
DeleteWhat if you wear none
ReplyDeleteUnder your sun?
Get thrown in jail
If you walk around bare, care to send me bail? lol
Chav-alicious!...not a fashion I could get on board with.
ReplyDeletePerfect word for it!
Deletetres tres chic!!
ReplyDeleteGosh they are gorgeous, and a world apart from the pilled brushed cotton teddy bear pjs i saw a teen slouching around the supermarket in today, ick!
ReplyDeleteWhilst i have a bum, i also have broad pointy shoulders. I have the most beautiful navy pinstripe linen jacket that makes me feel so chic when i wear it-as long as i dont look in the mirror at the man size shoulders it gives me!
If it were socially acceptable I would wear PJs every single day. Damn social rules.
ReplyDeleteVery nice!!!! Your clothing taste is exquisite!!
ReplyDelete~shoes~
Those pants are so cute. Smart of you not to add the oh so Pajama Looking Jacket that those other ladies paired with theirs. I have spent my entire adult life looking for that perfect DVF style wrap jersey dress and never once considered that the reason they all look terrible on me, might be me, not the dress.
ReplyDeleteHave I EVER! Well just about all the time. I did the PJ thing to work on Friday, yes indeedy I did and I will show you tonight or tomorrow. YOU look seriously cool and chic in yours, not too many photos at all, and waaay better than the starlets or whoever famous you're showing at the top of your post.
ReplyDeleteAt least your husband sticks fingers in ears and says something intelligible. Mine just yells AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH!!!!! without warning and really LOUD and gives me a heart attack.
Can't wait to see your PJ pants to work post - jim jam wimin unite
DeleteCyber high five jim jam wimin! I did the PJ top to work as I had no pool party to sip Campari. Think any of the tops tried with your jammie capri would be worthy of the occasion, wish I could look so languid and elegant. And I would not have thought they were PJ trous, just luxe party pants.
DeleteWell I fell for my husband and he's never ever flattering! Does that count??
ReplyDeleteI fall for unflattering stuff all the time until I get a mirror reality check. Your bottoms are super cute!
ReplyDeleteI'd be lalalala not listening also... but I admit, they do look cool!
ReplyDeleteThanks for popping by today! - love your local sign on your today - bullet-ridden and all "Hitchikers may be escaping inmates" story of my life really...
DeleteThey ARE cool. Especially on you. I can't bear the head to toe PJ look. They just shout fashion victim but if you break the set up and wear it the way you just did, they look pretty darn awesome.
ReplyDeleteThese are gorgeous and you carry them off so well. I think I could be tempted.
ReplyDeleteI have some high waisted black trousers which, when I bought them, were the height of fashion but they were very difficult to wear without feeling self-conscious.
Oops my comment disappeared into the wild blue internet...I love the pj pants on you Jody. I just bought a very unflattering pair of bright orange pants--what was I thinking? Yours are much more glam!
ReplyDeletexo Mary Jo
Most of my wardrobe feels totally unflattering tbh! Love the trousers (can't bring myself to call them pants - too British and repressed!)
ReplyDeletePA? What PA? Anyway, I know just what you mean about buying something that is both difficult to team with anything else and a bit iffy on the "I love these" front. However, I think these are great on you.
ReplyDeleteStill falling victim to the occasional purchase that is horrid on me. Who did I think I was shopping for?? I'll be skipping the pajama pant look. I remember when my kids were wearing the flannel version years ago!
ReplyDeleteThanks for popping by Jennifer. Your lovely Maltese pupster on your blog just reminded me to make an appt. with Teddy's groomer, he looks like he's just done Fast And Furious, the movie
DeleteI need to email you lovely - could you send me a quick hi email to schoolgatestyle@yahoo.co.uk as I can't find your email address anywhere? I have a question for you...it's all good, I promise!
ReplyDeletePS LOVE those pants...and still giggle when people in the states call them pants instead of trousers. Juvenile, I know! x
Hey there - Jody@aboutlastweekend.com - thank you!!!
Deletei love those!!! the best of this trend i've seen.
ReplyDeleteI've seen so many cute pants on holiday this year that I'm really inspired to get some new ones. These are so fun and I think perfect for summer!
ReplyDeleteI say if you are not in Capri fake it!
xx
